Overview

The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN) hosts one of the most important climate adaptation gatherings in the region. When the APAN Forum shifted to a fully virtual format, the team needed a platform that could support thousands of attendees, hundreds of speakers, and a complex program spanning multiple days.

The stakes were enormous because the organizers needed to move an established in person gathering into a virtual environment without losing the depth of participation. Delegates from 151 countries needed access to real time sessions, opportunities for discussion, and ways to collaborate meaningfully in a format that differed significantly from previous years.

The forum succeeded in uniting global experts at scale. The event brought together 2,500 attendees and 240 speakers across five days and contributed to a two year period in which fourteen resolutions and four decisions were advanced. UNEP demonstrated that a virtual forum could support real progress. Virtual PRO made it possible.
